The Behavioral, Human and Social Sciences Department is a multi-disciplinary department that features a variety of disciplines related to human behavior, relationships, society, and culture, including Psychology, Sociology, History, Geography, and Political Science. These disciplines focus on developing essential skills for exploring the human condition, and nurturing a capacity for informed citizenship.
The department seeks to accomplish its mission by creating learning environments in which students are encouraged to develop their critical-thinking, problem-solving, self-reflective, self-management, and creativity skills. Students are exposed to a variety of discipline specific learning methodologies as they acquire skills and knowledge associated with the disciplines. Department faculty also seek to invigorate the learning environment through innovative uses of technology. Throughout the entire program students are given many opportunities to demonstrate progress in fulfilling the requirements of their academic interests and/or major.
