Philosophy Faculty – Position #10771

Minimum Qualifications: The preferred candidate for this position will have a Ph.D. in Philosophy from a regionally accredited college or university. Candidates must be able to teach all levels of Philosophy, which may include Ethics, and Critical and creative Thinking. College level teaching experience is desirable, and candidates should have sufficient knowledge of computers and computer software, including multimedia applications.

Responsibilities: Faculty will prepare for and teach assigned classes (and laboratories if appropriate) and hold required office hours which include participation in the academic advising process. In addition, faculty will attend department and college meetings as requested or required, and maintain an active program of professional development. Participation in the promotion and tenure process and serving on committees at the department or college level is also required. This position may require the faculty member to teach on one or more campuses.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Candidates must have a vast knowledge of the diverse areas of Philosophy; the ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors; and the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications. Additionally, the candidate must commit to the state college mission, teach in an innovative and effective manner, and maintain significant professional development and service to the College.

Rank: Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Salary: This is a nine-month position. This position will have a competitive salary depending on experience. The College also provides a comprehensive benefits package.

Tenure and Promotion: Tenure and promotion are dependent upon the development of a successful professional portfolio, and committee approval.
