DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Sept. 26, 2011) – In support of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Daytona State College will host the 21st annual Abilities Awareness Day, Thursday, Oct. 20 (rescheduled from Wednesday, Oct. 19), from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the college’s Daytona Beach Campus at 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd.
Co-presented by Daytona State’s Student Disability Services and Student Activities, the event will feature live entertainment, refreshments, interactive games and the annual wheelchair rally. With more than 200 students receiving educational assistance through Daytona State’s Student Disabilities Services, Abilities Awareness Day brings together both non-disabled people and those with disabilities in a day of fun and celebration. In addition, various vendors will demonstrate equipment used by people with disabilities and local agencies providing assistance to people with disabilities will also participate.
The event is free and open to the public and takes place in the courtyard west of the Lenholt Student Center (bldg. 130).
