DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Aug. 25, 2010) – Returning after a summer break, the Daytona State College Foundation announces the first of its series of special workshops for seniors in our community. Wisdom In Senior Education (W.I.S.E.) is a program that promotes and shares the academic college resources with seniors, providing learning opportunities in an enjoyable format.
Join the Foundation for, “The Art of the Highwaymen,” Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 2 to 3:30 p.m., as Florida artist, Mary Ann Carroll, demonstrates her painting techniques. The Highwaymen was an association of young African-American artists who painted their way from the Florida citrus fields in the 1950s through the 60s and 70s, by painting Florida landscapes in a flamboyant style. Carroll is the only woman among the original Highwaymen painters. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.
