Beginning his twenty-seventh season as a professional swimming coach, Don Gibb comes to Daytona State after spending the last twenty seasons in the Division I collegiate ranks.
A graduate of Tate High School (Gonzales, Florida), Daytona Beach Community College, and the University of Florida, Coach Gibb has experienced competition and coaching at every level in our sport.
As a collegiate swimmer for the Gators, Gibb won the Southeastern Conference title in the 100 freestyle in 1982 and went on to win an NCAA title with Florida in 1983. He was also a USA National Champion, a co-American Record Holder in the 4x100 Freestyle Relay and was ranked in the top 25 in the world two years in a row. He also participated in the USA Masters National Championships winning the 100 freestyle in his age group.
As a coach, Gibb has had the good fortune to work with elite coaches such as former UF Head Men’s and Women’s Coach and USA Olympic Coach Randy Reese, former UF Women’s Head Coach Mitch Ivey, former UF Men’s Head Coach and NCAA Coach of the Year Skip Foster, and elite coaches Gary Butts and Ralph Crocker at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale. All these individuals had a direct impact on Coach Gibb and how he has evolved into an elite coach.
Some of his coaching highlights include: USA Junior National Champions, USA Senior National Champions, US Open Champions, Atlantic Coast Conference Champions, Southeastern Conference Champions, and NCAA Division I National Champions.
At the international level, Gibb has coached fourteen different Olympians from ten different countries. He has also been a member of the coaching staffs for Venezuela, Hungary, Trinidad, and South Africa participating in the Pan American Games, World Championships, Pan Pacific Games, and the Commonwealth Games. In 1998, he was also an assistant coach for the World All-Stars which won the gold medal in the Goodwill Games in Long Island, New York.
Gibb began his professional career in 1985 at the Nashville Aquatic Club where he developed several age group swimmers into National Top 16 qualifiers as well as Junior and Senior National performers and produced a Masters National Champion.

Caitlin IversenAssistant Coach

Caitlin Iversen enters her first season with the Falcon swimming squad. She will serve as Coordinator/Assistant Coach for the Daytona State College Swimming Program. She will assist with recruiting future student-athletes as well as on deck practice and coaching.
Caitlin joins the Falcons after graduating from the University of Arizona in December of 2010 where she completed four years of swimming under Head Coach Frank Busch. Caitlin was able to be a part of two Pacific-10 Conference Championships, as well as an NCAA National Championship Team. She competed at four NCAA Championship Meets and is a 6-time All American. She also competed in the 2008 US Olympic Trials and placed ninth in the 200 meter backstroke.
Caitlin was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and has been swimming competitively since the age of 8. She has one older sister who also swam at the University of California Los Angeles. Caitlin is currently testing the waters of triathlons.
Aleia Monden
Assistant Diving Coach
Aleia grew up in Mililani, Hawaii and at a young age took up the sport of diving. After taking up multiple sports such as soccer, gymnastics, tumbling, trampoline, and swimming, she realized how great of a sport diving really is. In high school, she was a four-time Hawaii High School Athletic Association State Champion, the current record holder, and three-time NISCA All-American.
After High School, Aleia attended Florida State University, where she was named MVP for three years, captain for two, made the All-ACC Academic Honor Roll all four years, broke the 5-dive platform record, and was awarded the prestigious Golden Nole Award her senior year. In 2008, she also was an NCAA All-American Honorable Mention on the platform. On the USA Diving scene, Aleia proved that the platform was her calling, as she placed 3rd in the synchronized diving event in 2008, as well as finaled at Nationals individually on several occasions.
Shortly after receiving her Bachelors of Science with a major in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology and Chemistry, Aleia was asked to become a performer on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Oasis of the Seas for four months.
Currently, Aleia is an Assistant Coach for the YMCA of Central Florida Diving Team. Her plans for the near future is to take the MCAT and go to Medical School
