What Is the Purpose of MOCI?

moci_logoThe purpose of MOCI is to assist Daytona State College in the implementation of its retention goals by increasing the number of men of color retained each semester. This program offers activities and supportive services to address the academic and personal development of men of color. A variety of activities for MOCI are planned to address the personal adjustment needs of the male students and faculty of color at Daytona State College.

Steering Committee

mentorsThe steering committee is composed of faculty, staff, and students who have worked hard to develop and implement a program that addresses the urgent retention needs of the target population.

MOCI – Meet & Greet, Socials, Workshops, and Field Trips

April 5: An Essay Revision Workshop will be held in the Academic Support Center (in the library) at 2 pm.

April 8: The next MOCI student meeting is scheduled to meet in 300/109 at 2:30 pm: Conversational Spanish Coffee Hour with Professor Elias Lorenzo-Lorenzo.

April 9: MOCI steering committee meeting is scheduled to meet in 300/109 at 2:30 pm.

April 15: MOCI student meeting is scheduled to meet in 300/109 at 2:30 pm: Talking Shop over Cards and Coffee.

April 15: Twenty-second Annual Diversity in Education Opportunity Day Event, building 1200. MOCI liaison: Mr. Rontae Pierce

April 22: MOCI student meeting is scheduled to meet in 300/109 at 2:30 pm: Conversational Spanish Coffee Hour with Professor Elias Lorenzo-Lorenzo.

April 29: MOCI student meeting is scheduled to meet in 300/109 at 2:30 pm: Talking Shop over Cards and Coffee.

May 6: MOCI student meeting in room 300/109: End-of-Year Celebration. Students will be recognized for their achievements this semester.

May 7: MOCI steering committee meeting is scheduled to meet in 300/109 at 2:30 pm.
